After the court makes an initial determination regarding child custody, the next thing the court is going to do is make award regarding child support. Child support payments are awarded by the court based on a computer program that the court utilizes in assessing that award. They take into account, among other things, the wages of each party, as well as the time they spend with the child and they come to an objective figure which is the amount of child support that either party must pay.
